2024 The Tibra Foundation Scholarship in Mathematics
Community
The Tibra Foundation Scholarship in Mathematics has been established to help young rural and regional Australians with big ambitions to realise their potential through education. This scholarship recognises that students from rural and regional areas face significant barriers when following their dreams, often having to relocate in order to follow their educational pursuits, leaving behind the support of family and friends and feeling torn between their education and their obligations.
Tibra Foundation Scholars will exhibit capability and drive for a career in mathematics, with demonstrable strength, grit and resilience to overcome non-financial barriers to succeed at university. Tibra Foundation Scholars will be strong in their convictions about the importance of education, and also the importance of helping others, giving back and paying it forward.
To qualify, students must originate from a rural or regional background as per the Rural, Remote and Metropolitan Area (RRMA) classifications set out by the Australian Government webpage (2019 Modified Monash Model classification). Eligible applicants will be intending to commence a mathematics related degree at UOW. In the pursuit of supporting women into a non-traditional field, females will be strongly encouraged to apply for this opportunity.
