Are you seeking to undertake your Phase 4 Doctor of Medicine clinical placements in a regional area? The Bega Valley Medical Student Scholarship was established to support the future of rural and regional medical practice, offering $2,500 to the successful candidate who has an interest in working as a Rural Generalist Medical Practitioner, intending on returning to work and keen to complete one Phase 4 rotation in the Bega Valley Shire. The aim is that students will get a significant experience in the provision of a broad spectrum of medical care in the rural context. It is known that such placements encourage students to return to practice in these communities and/or have a better understanding and appreciation of medicine in these areas.
Eligible recipients may not concurrently hold more than one of the following scholarships for the same rotation:

Application Criteria
Successful applicants must remain enrolled as a full-time in a Doctor of Medicine at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship.
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder.
Applicants must be commencing Phase 4 of a Doctor of Medicine (MD) in 2025
Applicants must be committed to completing at least one out of the three rotations in Phase 4, within the Bega Valley Shire.
Applicants must maintain enrolment in a Doctor of Medicine for the duration of this scholarship
Preferred applicants will be able to illustrate a significant connection with the the Bega Valley Shire LGA of NSW, however all interested candidates are encouraged to apply;
Preference will be given to applicants who are not part of the Assistance in Medicine (AiM) program.
