The Ray and Peggy Allen Graduate Medicine Scholarship aims to support as many medical students as possible to successfully complete a Doctor of Medicine (MD) and move into the medical workforce.
This scholarship created in memory of Ray and Peggy Allen is available for University of Wollongong MD students in Phase 2 of their studies who are experiencing financial hardship and other educational disadvantages. This scholarship provides students with financial support at a pivotal point in the MD course, allowing students to focus on their studies and undertake diverse clinical training experiences.
Applicants are asked to provide a UOW Application package, a UAC Equity Application and a one page statement demonstrating their commitment to medicine and outlining how the scholarship will assist with their future career ambitions.
In the event of exceptional applicants, the selection panel reserves the right to split the funding between multiple recipients.
Applicants must also submit an application via UAC Equity to be considered for this scholarship.

Application Criteria
Applicants must remain enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship
Successful applicants must maintain a grade of Satisfactory
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
Applicants must intend to enrol in Phase 2 of the Doctor of Medicine (MD) at the UOW Wollongong or Shoalhaven Campus
Applicants must demonstrate financial need. UOW also takes into consideration the following forms of educational disadvantage and applicant attributes when awarding equity scholarships: carer responsibilities; English language difficulty; long-term medical condition/disability or ongoing effects of abuse; regional or remote disadvantage; sole parent responsibilities; refugee status and Indigenous Australians.
Applicants must provide a brief cover letter, resume and one page statement demonstrating their commitment to medicine and outlining how the scholarship will assist with their future career ambitions.
