Illawarra Quota has established this scholarship to support one (1) UOW student who is currently living with a speech and/or hearing impairment OR who is a carer of someone living with a speech and/or hearing impairment OR who is studying or working in a field relating to speech and/or hearing impairment. Applicants are asked to submit a one page statement outlining how hearing and/or speech impairment has impacted your life and discussing your goals for your studies and beyond.

Application Criteria
Applicants must remain enrolled in an undergraduate degree at any onshore campus at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship;
Applicants must remain enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship.
Applicants must maintain a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50;
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder;
Applicants are required to demonstrate community involvement via submission of a written statement;
Applicants must either: i. Be living with a hearing and/or speech impairment, and be registered with UOW Disability Services. This may include hearing and/or speech impairments caused by a range of medical conditions, including but not limited to: MS (Multiple Sclerosis), Brain tumour/cancer, Acquired Brain Injury, Cancer, Cerebral Palsy, Dystonia, Stroke/CVA, Muscular Dystrophy, Parkinson's Disease, Tourette's Syndrome
ii) Or be a carer of someone living with a hearing and/or speech impairment, and be registered as a carer with UOW Disability Services; OR iii) Be able to demonstrate a commitment to studying and/or working in an area relating to hearing and/or speech impairments
