2024 Col Purcell Illawarra Rugby League Centenary Scholarship

The Col Purcell Illawarra Rugby League Centenary Scholarship is available to current Illawarra and South Coast Junior Rugby League players and referees (between Helensburgh and Milton / Ulladulla) to assist in the pursuit of a tertiary education. To be eligible candidates must have competed in any Illawarra or South Coast Junior Rugby League competition during their HSC year, and will need to provide a copy of their registration as part of the application.
The successful candidate will receive $3000 towards the cost of their studies in 2024. They will be encouraged to continue their affiliation with the Illawarra or South Coast Junior Rugby League (Helensburgh – Milton / Ulladulla) through attending events, continuing to play the sport, or refereeing for the duration of the scholarship. The scholarship recipient may be asked to attend a sponsor or University hosted event as the student representative of the scholarship.

Application Criteria
The successful applicant must be enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree at the University of Wollongong in 2024;
Applicants must have competed in either the Illawarra or South Coast Junior Rugby League (Helensburgh - Milton/Ulladulla) competitions during their HSC year
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
Applicants must demonstrate involvement in Rugby league via submission of a written statement
