2025 Kimberley Livingstone Memorial Scholarship in Nursing

Dr Kimberley Livingstone was a PhD candidate with the School of Education, completing a PhD across both the School of Education and Nursing on the topic of 'Exploring the Support of Registered Nurse Preceptors in Supervising Nursing Students through Work-Integrated Learning Partnerships'. Dr Livingstone was also a lecturer in the School of Nursing.
In 2023, Dr Kimberley Livingstone, sadly passed away after a lifelong battle with cystic fibrosis and was awarded a posthumous PhD in April 2024. In honor of Dr Livingstone, an annual $5,000 scholarship has been established to award a student commencing their first year in 2025 in Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) at UOW.
The scholarship will be awarded to three (3) students who have demonstrated need such as financial or social challenges. There are a range of criteria that are looked at in determining this need such as low income, family background, living in a rural or isolated region, having a permanent disability, being a recent migrant from a non-English speaking country, and Indigenous Australians. Applicants must submit an application via UAC Equity to be considered for this scholarship.

Application Criteria
Applicants must be commencing in 2025 in a Bachelor of Nursing or Bachelor of Nursing (Honours) degree at the University of Wollongong
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
Applicants must demonstrate financial and/or educational challenges. UOW also takes into consideration the following forms of educational challenges and applicant attributes when awarding equity scholarships: carer responsibilities; English language difficulty; long-term medical condition/disability or ongoing effects of abuse; regional or remote disadvantage; sole parent responsibilities; refugee status and Indigenous Australians.
Student with the highest cumulative disadvantage score, where recipients have equal scores, the academic merit will be considered
Applicants must remain enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship
