The Paul Cooper Scholarship for Indigenous Students has been established by Emeritus Professor Paul Cooper, who has contributed significantly to the UOW academic community through his 36 years of teaching and research on a range of topics in engineering, with a focus on environmental sustainability and resilience. This scholarship aims to support the educational journey of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, by helping to reduce financial barriers that may prevent talented individuals from completing their University studies.
This scholarship will provide support for one student in their second, third or fourth year of any degree at the University, with a preference (in order of priority) for: a) Engineering, b) STEM or c) Health and Medical students. The successful applicant must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and must demonstrate financial challenges or educational disadvantage.
Applicants are asked to complete a UOW scholarship application package, a cover letter introducing themself, and a one-page statement that outlines how they get involved in their community and how this scholarship will support their university journey.

Application Criteria
Successful applicants must remain enrolled in an undergraduate degree at any onshore campus at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship.
Successful applicants must remain enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Wollongong for the duration of this scholarship.
Successful applicants must maintain a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50
Applicants must be of of Australian Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent.
Applicants must be enrolled in their second (2nd), third (3rd), or fourth (4th) year of any degree at the University of Wollongong. Preference will be given to students enrolled in the following areas of study; a) Engineering, b) STEM or c) Health and Medical students.
Applicants must submit a statement including their community involvement and how this scholarship will assist them throughout their University journey, both financially and with their career ambitions.
