The Paul Cooper Scholarship for Indigenous Students

2025 The Paul Cooper Scholarship for Indigenous Students

Community

The Paul Cooper Scholarship for Indigenous Students has been established by Emeritus Professor Paul Cooper, who has contributed significantly to the UOW academic community through his 36 years of teaching and research on a range of topics in engineering, with a focus on environmental sustainability and resilience. This scholarship aims to support the educational journey of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students, by helping to reduce financial barriers that may prevent talented individuals from completing their University studies.

This scholarship will provide support for one student in their second, third or fourth year of any degree at the University, with a preference (in order of priority) for: a) Engineering, b) STEM or c) Health and Medical students. The successful applicant must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent and must demonstrate financial challenges or educational disadvantage.

Applicants are asked to complete a UOW scholarship application package, a cover letter introducing themself, and a one-page statement that outlines how they get involved in their community and how this scholarship will support their university journey.

Open from 15/Aug/2025 to 05/Sep/2025
