The Tom Maguire Memorial Scholarship for Law recognises Tom Maguire's significant contributions to the legal profession and his connection to the Illawarra region.
The scholarship is specifically for UOW Bachelor of Law (LLB) students experiencing financial need. This designation follows the experience of Tom Maguire who himself faced significant barriers in his legal studies but went on to become a highly regarded legal professional.
To be considered for this scholarship, applicants must also submit a UAC Equity application in addition to the UOW Scholarship application

Application Criteria
Applicants must be enrolled in second (2nd) year or higher of a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Wollongong;
Applicants must remain enrolled as a full-time student at the University of Wollongong for the duration of the scholarship;
Applicants must have a demonstrated need such as financial and/or disadvantage. Equity criteria can include but are not limited to - low income family background, living in a rural or isolated region, having a permanent disability, recently migrated from a non-English speaking country etc.;
Successful applicants must maintain a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 65+;
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen or Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder.
Applicants must submit a UAC Equity Scholarship application and a UOW Scholarship application to be considered for this scholarship
