2024 Veolia Mulwaree Trust Community Equity Scholarship
Community/Equity
The Veolia Mulwaree Trust was established in 2003 to manage and distribute funds for charitable purposes and worthwhile community projects to benefit communities within or surrounding the former Mulwaree Shire Council area. The trust's funding is provided by Veolia Environmental Services, which operates the Woodlawn Bioreactor near Tarago in Southern NSW.
The Trust would generously like to support one (1) student in need studying at the University of Wollongong who completed their HSC or equivalent in, or reside in, any one of the seven Local Government Areas (LGA) it serves, including:
- Goulburn Mulwaree,
- Palarang,
- Shoalhaven City,
- Oberon,
- Wingecarribee,
- Upper Lachlan,
- Wollondilly Shire Council areas.
The scholarship aims to recognise those students who give back to their communities and have a desire to bring their knowledge and experiences back to these regions.
Applicants must also submit an application via UAC Equity, in addition to a UOW scholarship application to be considered for this scholarship.

Application Criteria
Applicants must demonstrate financial and/or educational challenges. UOW also takes into consideration the following forms of educational challenges and attributes and applicant attributes: carer responsibilities; English language difficulty; long-term medical condition/disability or ongoing effects of abuse; regional or remote disadvantage; sole parent responsibilities; refugee status and Indigenous Australians.
Applicants must remain enrolled full-time in an undergraduate degree at the University of Wollongong for the duration of the scholarship;
Applicants must have either completed their secondary schooling in the geographical area covered by the Veolia Mulwaree Trust or have been long-term residents. This includes the Goulbourn Mulwaree Council, Palerang Council, Shoalhaven City Council, Oberon Council, Wingecarribee Shire Council, Upper Lachlan Shire Council and Wollondilly Shire Council areas;
Applicants must show an affinity with the Veolia Mulwaree trust region through significant community involvement and participation in the business community through work experience, placement or internship;
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder
Applicants must include a one-two page statement outlining: - how the scholarship will assist in your studies and career goals, including details of your interest in the scholarship, specifically making mention of undertaking work placements, internships, volunteer work, etc. as part of your study in the region - your involvement in community activities
Applicants must maintain a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50
