The Ray McGill Scholarship for Indigenous students has been established by UOW alumnus, Mr Ray McGill, who graduated with a Bachelor of Science in 2007. Ray has established the scholarship to provide access to further education and opportunities to a student who may not otherwise be able to afford to attend University.
The Ray McGill Scholarship will support two (2) students commencing their first (1st) year of any degree at the University of Wollongong. The successful applicant must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent, and must demonstrate financial need or educational disadvantage.
Applicants are asked to complete a UOW scholarship application package, a UAC Equity Scholarship online application form and provide a one page statement outlining how the scholarship will assist with their career ambitions.

Application Criteria
Applicants must maintain a minimum Weighted Average Mark (WAM) of 50
Applicants must be an Australian Citizen, New Zealand Citizen, Australian Permanent Resident or Australian Permanent Humanitarian Visa Holder.
Applicants must be of Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander descent
Applicants must be intending to enroll full-time at the University of Wollongong
Applicants must be intending to enrol in their first year of study in any undergraduate degree
Applicants must demonstrate financial and/or educational challenges. Educational challenges and attributes include but are not limited to; low income family background, carer responsibilities; English language difficulty; long-term medical condition/disability or ongoing effects of abuse; living in a rural or isolated region; sole parent responsibilities; refugee status and Indigenous Australians.
